March 24, 2025: Grinding Up with No Pullback – Live Trading Recap
Hey Traders,
Today’s session was an interesting one, as the market showed slow but steady upward movement. It gapped up at the open but lacked any significant pullbacks. For momentum traders, this type of slow, grinding price action can feel a bit frustrating, but there were still opportunities to capture profits. I managed to secure a profitable day by sticking to a disciplined strategy.
Market Context:
The market opened with a gap up, suggesting potential upside, but the movement was sluggish throughout the session. There were no real pullbacks, and price just kept inching upwards toward key levels. For momentum traders, this slower price action can be challenging since we rely on quicker moves to capitalize on.
The lack of volatility might have been due to algorithmic buying, where the market is moved gently without much impact on the pricing. While the price kept moving, the pace was much slower than we typically like to see. The wicks kept dropping, indicating that the market wasn’t fully engaged, which often results in smaller, more controlled moves.
Execution and Risk Management:
Even with the slow market, I was able to capitalize on a few trades by focusing on patience and risk management. With no explosive moves, I stuck to smaller, more controlled trades, always keeping risk in mind.
SPX Options: I focused on SPX options, taking smaller trades in line with the market’s sluggish movement. While the market didn’t offer huge breakouts, I was able to manage my positions and avoid large losses.
Risk Management: Staying patient and not chasing trades was key today. When the market wasn’t reacting as expected, I made sure to cut my losses quickly and move on to the next opportunity.
The Slow Grind:
The market’s slow grind was the main theme of the day. There were no major pullbacks, but price kept moving upward. Although it was a challenge for momentum traders like us, I stuck to the process—waiting for price to reach key levels and executing trades when the risk-reward was favorable.
The Outcome:
While the market didn’t offer major volatility, I still ended the session with a profit. Slow markets can be tricky, but by staying disciplined and managing my risk, I was able to navigate the price action and find profitable trades.
